Planning & Sunshine

This summer has brought with it many things, the potential for more opportunity being one of them. By opportunity I do not mean just in the business sense, though that is definitely something I am pursuing, rather more along the lines of lifestyle or relationship choices/pathways. I never quite know what to expect of individuals or even opportunities that cross my path let alone how to best approach some of them to acquire the best result.

Lately I have adopted more of a ” go with the flow ” approach  which has been working for the most part, I guess we will see how it plays out as it seems to be the best suited way to deal with happenings in my life.

One thing that happened earlier this spring/summer that I found amusing was a guy that i had seen several times, before I had to take a little medical break due to personal health issues, then when I talk to him again he tells me he got a girlfriend but that he really liked me just could never “figure me out”. I found this hard to believe as I am a very straightforward not to mention an open book when it comes to understanding or ‘reading’ me. Anyway his loss but it made me think if you really want to be with someone or would like to try a relationship with someone, shouldn’t you be willing to put in the time and effort? after all a perfect relationship will not just be handed to you on a silver platter you have to work at it and for it. But what would I know.

On the business side of things, things are picking up I have gotten some great leads for people who are looking for some new jewelry as well as a few wanting to know more about the business. I am excited to see where this will go as it will be wonderful once I start building my team, not to mention when I start making/saving money so I can buy more product like the FERI shields or some beautiful sterling silver or FERI Mosh items.

Edmonton plans are coming along nicely, this weekend I should be finding out where I will be residing and then can make moving/budget plans accordingly. This summer will be a summer of big changes that is for sure, and I have a feeling they will all be for the better.

till next time

How can you tell if it is progress….

Well for lack of more eloquent phrasing the beginning of this year has been ridiculous, but not quite Charlie Sheen ridiculous close but not quite.

6 weeks left in my program and believe me I am starting to feel the heat but the assignments, tests, and personal strain will be worth it when I am holding that piece of paper in June.

I am also looking forward to this semester being over so I can focus on my businesses and gain some personal and residual income in my life. So my goal is to work both of them, GWT and Passion Parties.

This year will then hopefully end or continue on in a much more peaceful and prosperous fashion than in which it began.

I am also waiting to hear back from the universities I applied to for my post degree education program. I am really hoping I got in to the ones I am hoping for because I really have not made a back-up plan for what I am going to do if I am not accepted anywhere…. maybe I shall start to formulate one.

In the meantime for any reading why not check out my fellow MRU psychology major’s blog : http://misskristalynn.blogspot.com

Procrastination

Posted in Business, Choices, Decisions, Expectations, GWT, Happiness, People, Skills tagged , , , , , , , , , , , , at 4:15 pm by lemaclellan

We are all guilty of it,  some of us have just come to terms with our procrastinating ways and accepted that it is something that though it may be entertaining and feel good in the end it is not beneficial for anything. Yes at the moment I am procrastinating my readings for my classes to write this blog but I the fact is I am conscious of this.

However I do like to be productive and the past couple days i actually have been successful in this feet. I have gotten two leads for my business, gotten information on another possible, worthwhile investment, ordered my business kit as well as a beautiful pendant and chain from my company :

I should be receiving it next week and am ridiculously excited.

My last semester also began this week and looks like it shall be a busy one which brings me back to procrastination, since I shall have lots of readings, assignments, presentations and the like that come with taking 5 senior classes if I procrastinate I will not be in a good place. So I shall try to be vigilant and not procrastinate excessively.

I have not procrastinated however in the matter of application completion for the universities that I have applied to for the post-degree education program. Hopefully I will be accepted to the University of Alberta so that I can stay relatively close to home but also leave Calgary(living wise) for once in my life. Also the U of A is a beautiful campus and fantastic school, my fingers are crossed.

So my motto for this semester I have decided will be “Do or do not, there is no try” to quote the brilliant Yoda from Star Wars because it is true. I like to believe that we as people can do anything we set our minds to it is just a matter of applying yourself to what it is you would like to do.  I believe that is all i shall leave you with for now.

till next time

Ciao

New Year Resolutions…

Posted in Business, Choices, Decisions, Expectations, Future, Happiness, Human Nature, Interaction, People, Society tagged , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , at 12:32 pm by lemaclellan

Every new-years people create goals and missions for themselves for the coming year. Some will vow to lose the weight they’ve been trying to lose for years and make the same resolution every year without success, others will want to save money, relationship changes, etc.  No matter what your resolution it has to be something you believe in and are driven towards wanting to complete, because if you don’t want it then why should you work for it.

I am by no means saying that you should not make resolutions because I make them and that would make me a hypocrite what i am saying however is to make them carefully and with lots of thought so that at the end of this new year you can say you did it

I pledge this year, 2011, that I Lauren MacLellan will put money into a house fund, get more healthy and active, learn something new (activity wise), and most importantly be myself and not sacrifice a part of it for anyone.  I am also going to invest more in my business so that I can prosper long-term and help with my goals of owning a house by the time i am done my second degree.

That said I am going to join a yoga class either at Mount Royal University or at a yoga studio by my house, I am going to try to find a level two salsa class i can attend that does not conflict with classes, I will only pursue and keep relationships that add positive things to my existence no negative, energy draining individuals. I will be successful and do everything to the best of my ability.

I hope that no matter what your resolutions for 2011 may be that you succeed and that they help you be the best you can be.

All the best New-Years wishes to you all

Words That Make Your Resume Suck (via Crone and Bear It)

How you present yourself be it in person, or on paper sets the tone so make sure you “put your best foot forward”

Words That Make Your Resume Suck I remember some time ago reading an article intended to help those seeking jobs by alerting them to certain words or phrases they should not use on their resumes.  The concern was applicants may be using generic language; language that doesn’t specifically demonstrate capabilities.   Over-used, trite, unsupportable phrases make Human Resource Managers cringe.  Six examples were provided: 1.  “Responsible for” — So what?  We’re all responsible fo … Read More
